About the Event
Learn to Kayak is WRPC’s beginner-friendly course for anyone ready to start paddling safely, confidently, and with the right foundation from day one. Designed for those with little or no experience, this small-group class pairs hands-on instruction with guided on-water practice to help you build essential skills in a supportive, professional setting, giving you the foundation you need to begin kayaking on the Columbia River and throughout North Central Washington.
Each class is taught by a highly experienced ACA professional instructor with more than 20 years of experience teaching kayaking, training guides, and leading Swiftwater rescue instruction. Students will learn the fundamentals of equipment selection, safe boat handling, wet exits, and basic paddle strokes and maneuvers — all with direct coaching from a seasoned expert.
